Integrated and ecological orchard technologies; canopy training and pruning systems; Optimization of light interception in intensive orchards
Objectives:
- Monitoring biometric indicators according to growth and fruiting particularities of the new cultivar-rootstock combinations;
- Optimization of the solar energy interception - mapping photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) and leaf area index (LAI) in different fruit growing systems;
- Development of ecological sequences in the fruit growing technology
- Improving pruning technologies in modern orchards in temperate climate area;
- Innovative technologies to establish and manage modern plantations
Achievements::
- Pruning, canopy forming and training technologies, adapted to the cultivars growing and fruiting particularities;
- Establishment of the optimum planting densities for different cultivar-rootstock combinations of the main temperate fruit growing species;
- Innovative growing systems to improve temperate fruit species potential in the high-density orchards;
- New and/or improved integrated and ecologic technological sequences for fruit species grown in temperate climate to obtain high quality crop;
- Modern growing technologies for valuable sweet cherry cultivars and rootstocks.
